Haiti - Tourism : Things are moving everywhere !
The Yakouba Basin, a marvel unexploited
Sunday Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne, Regional Director Northern Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC) has visited the Yakouba Basin, a beautiful tourist site, unexploited, located in the town of Piacenza in northern Haiti. This is the first official visit of a delegation from the Ministry of Tourism on this site. Before the people of the area, Ms. Luma promised the assistance of MTIC to develop the site and facilitate its access to national and international tourists.

Tourist Taxi important meeting
Last Saturday, MTIC, together with representatives of the National Bank of Credit (BNC), organized an important meeting with 4 Association of taxi drivers in Cap-Haitien airport on the process of acquiring new cars to improve the tourist transport in the North Destination. Representatives of the Organization of Management of the Destination (OGD) and the President of the Tourist Association North (ATH-Nord),also participated in this meeting to finalize the acquisition procedure of taxis.

IDB explored the South destination
On Monday, a delegation from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) was in visit in the South to study the tourism potential of the destination. Karine Condé, the Departmental Director of MTIC South, met with IDB specialists and reported on the various tourism projects planned by the Ministry at the department: Signage of tourist circuit, the Boulevard of the sea, the tourism project Côtes de fer nd the South Coast, a modern bus station etc... The aim of this mission was to define the next IDB investments in the tourism sector particularly for the South destination. It was also an opportunity for the delegation of the IDB, to visit the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Education (IFORHT).

The Minister of Tourism in Colombia
Wednesday, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industry participated in Cartagena (Colombia), at the 57th meeting of the Committee of the World Tourism Organization for the Americas. Discussions focused, inter alia on : the laws governing the tourism sector, strategies of improvement of inter-connectivity between Europe and South America and facilitation of travel. The minister Villedrouin, stressed in his speech on Haiti's image outside and the political positioning of Haiti as a tourist destination. During this meeting, Haiti was unanimously elected to host the 58th meeting of the Commission of the World Tourism Organization for the Americas in 2015.

A fifty candidates for Miss Haiti 2014
The first phase of the contest Miss Haiti 2014 ended Saturday, June 21 with the filing of fifty applications "[...] before this result, we can only be satisfied with the benefits of our communication efforts. The departmental directorates have done their job, and the press supported us," explained Carine Beauvoir, cabinet member of the Minister of MTIC. In the coming days, two candidates will be selected by department and will follow a 7-weeks training in Port-au-Prince to prepare to participate in the grand finale on September 6. Recall that the Organizing Committee of Miss Haiti 2014, received the support of MTIC to give the event a national scale. The Miss and her princesses will have for mission, to embody an aspect of the beauty of Haiti beyond borders.
