Haiti - Tourism : $4,5M for development of the village of Noailles
Monday, as part of a series of visits to local entrepreneurs, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe accompanied among others by Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industry (MTIC), of Ms. Colombe Émilie Gessie Menos, Secretary of State for Tourism and Herold Israël, Secretary of State for Communication visited the craft village of Noailles in Croix-des-Bouquets, a neighborhood known for the creativity of its craftsmen, which is the subject of a Development Plan designed by the government estimated at $4,5 million.

This Plan includes among others the construction of 2.5 km of roads and streets, an area for relaxation, recreation, and cultural playgrounds space, a parking. It is also intended to assist the Steering Committee responsible for the development of the village, to build two restaurants and a bar, to renovate the exterior facades of the houses, to install the grid and do the work of potable water.



In the perspective of the implementation of a production collaboration plan between the sectors of artistic crafts and utilitarian crafts, on the instructions of Prime Minister Lamothe, solar street light poles adorned with cut out iron sculptures, designed by artists of the village, will be recommended for the lighting of public places, including the place of artistsunder construction at the Champ-de-Mars and cultural and tourist sites across the country. Thirty of these streetlights have been installed on the thematic village roads, referring to the works of the great figures of the sculptor Georges Liautaud, and the world of the Haitian peasantry.



The purpose of the visit of the Prime Minister, was to pay tribute to artisans and assure the support of the government to increase their commercial production, their creative abilities of jobs, improve their livelihoods, promote their expertise and their innovative creativity and ensure the sustainability of this sector which contributes to the recognition of the country at the international level, one of the priorities of the tourism policy of the government.
