Thursday, Charles Jean Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Coordinator of Special Plan of Cité Soleil, appointed by the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, proceeded in collaboration with the Mayor of the Commune, to the launch of the Special Plan of Cité Soleil. In his speech for the occasion, the Minister Jacques declared, "The Special Plan of Cité Soleil is an initiative of the Administration Martelly-Lamothe to implement a series of projects in the town of Cité Soleil to bring immediate relief to the vulnerable populations while laying the foundation for sustainable development."

This launch was an opportunity for the Minister to provide an update of various works funded by the Administration Martelly-Lamothe through the town of Cité Soleil, among others: the creation of 11 community restaurants offering 5,500 meals a day and the creation of 99 direct jobs (for operating these 11 restaurants) and the development of the Place Fierté equipped with solar streetlights.

The 23 projects targeted under this Special Plan, with a total budget of U.S. $ 5 million, meet the priorities identified by the population. Their immediate feasibility, direct impact on the needy populations and their complementarity with other ongoing actions, constituting selection criteria. he Special Plan of Cité Soleil will be completed by the end of this year. Its implementation will require the collaboration: of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Communications (MTPTC) and the Unit for Housing Construction and public buildings (UCLBP).
