Haiti - Reconstruction : Mission led by Lionel Jospin Sunday in Haiti

A mission led by former French Prime Minister and socialist leader Lionel Jospin is expected tomorrow in Port-au-Prince. This mission is part of the project entitled "Global Leadership for the Reconstruction of Haiti", implemented by the Club of Madrid, an independent organization dedicated to strengthening the leadership and democratic values worldwide basis on the experience and resources of its members, more than 70 former heads of state and funded by the European Commission.

Mission will provide assistance to Haitian leaders to better reflect on their role in rebuilding the country's recovery and resumption of the process on the institutional reform interrupted by the devastating earthquake will be the key project of this second mission.

Mission plans to meet with President Rene Preval, Prime Minister, Jean Max Bellerive, members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and some candidates in the presidential election next November for reflection on the process and means to ensure on substance and in form free, fair and democratic elections.

The mission also hopes to meet during his stay, the head of the joint election of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Colin Granderson of CARICOM as well as leaders of the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (MINUSTAH ).
