Haiti - Economy : A Japanese company interested in manufacturing TVs in Haiti

Following the echo that we made in our pages on July 26 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11676-haiti-news-some-news-here-and-there.html , on the possible installation of a Japanese manufacturing plant of televisions in Haiti, we are able to specify, that as part of the transition to digital television scheduled June 17, 2015, a meeting was recently held in Miami between Jean Marie Guillaume, Director General of the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL) and the Japanese multinational firm "FUNAI Electric CO Ltd", producer of electronic equipment brands like Emerson, Magnavox and Phillips among others.

"The meeting was fruitful. We made a commitment to work with them and to continue to explore the possibility of creating a manufacturing plant of televisions and decoders here in Haiti," declared Jean Marie Guillaume.

MSW, a firm, with technical expertise in the field of digital television transition, also took part in this meeting "[...] a technical plan is already in place for the deployment of digital infrastructure in Haiti with the metropolitan area as a starting point," stressed the Director General of CONATEL.
