Haiti - Social : The Government encourages artistic creation

No less than 170 young people from various popular neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince will participate from 11 August to 12 September 2014 in a series of art workshops initiated by the Office of the Delegate Minister Responsible for Human Rights and the Fight against Extreme poverty, Marie Carmelle Rose Anne Auguste.

Painting workshops, music (percussion, vocals, sound), sculpture and photography will be organized as part of this project which aims to encourage artistic creation through mentoring of young talents evolving in these neighborhoods.

The organization of these workshops is a continuation of "Kalfou Richès Peyi dAyiti" program propelled in 2012 by Auguste Minister in order to lead the wealth producers to take responsibility face the extreme poverty in many poor neighborhoods in the country. The persons covered by this project are young people who already have a penchant for targeted areas and do not have the opportunity to flourish. Under these workshops, a cultural event will be held in Port-au-Prince where participants will have the opportunity to show their works to the public.

This project is part of the strategy of the Administration Martelly and Lamothe Government to fight extreme poverty in the country and is one of the essential components of the Action Plan for the Reduction of Poverty (PARP). Over a period of three years, this plan will allow to reduce poverty and to achieve a society that promotes inclusive economic growth, with equal rights and opportunities for all.

This project will be extended to other parts of the country and facilitate the development of many artists working in precarious areas.
