Haiti - Politic : MHAVE, provided an update on the identification program
François Guillaume II, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), which coordinates the Programme of Identification and Documentations of Haitian Immigrants (PIDIH), launched on 22 July in Santo Domingo in partnership for the implementation with the National Identification Office (ONI), the National Archives of Haiti (ANH), the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE), the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC), Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT) declared during a recent speech on a radio of the capital "For the first time, the Haitian government has begun a process of regularization of undocumented compatriots outside. Initially, there were some errors that were quickly corrected. We work to improve the upcoming launch, scheduled for September in Baharona."

Furthermore, the Minister asked the actors of civil society not to politicize the issue, noting that the PIDIH "is simply a commitment of the Haitian state to its nationals illegally, all over the world." and not only in neighboring Republic. Adding, that after the Dominican Republic, the cap will be put on the Bahamas, Suriname, Turks and Caicos Islands, also having a strong demand for identifications in documents of our compatriots in irregular situation.

The Minister Guillaume II, informed that in addition to Santo Domingo and Barahona, the PIDIH will expand to other cities in the Dominican Republic such as Santiago and Higuey, two cities with high density of Haitian nationals.
