Haiti - Social : Back to school, help for disadvantaged families 22/08/2014 11:19:56
By October 30, the Government will proceed with the distribution of 265,000 school kits and 4,950 teacher kits through 817 schools covered by the program Ti Manman Chérie, relying for its success on the pooling of all resources of government and the Interministerial cohesion. Distribution by Department : Artibonite: 35,377 kits in 103 schools by October 15; Center: 20,812 kits in 72 schools by October 15; Grand Anse 8.113 kits in 41 schools by October 30; Nippes: 9,220 kits in 40 schools by October 30; North: 30.158 kits in 92 schools by October 30; Northeast: 6.281 kits in 26 schools by October 30; Northwest: 24.834 kits in 82 schools by October 30; West: 49.615 kits in 247 schools by October 30; South: 16 304 kits in 66 schools by October 30; Southeast: 8.918 kits to 41 schools, by 30 October 2014. In addition, other components of National Social Assistance "Ede Pèp" program will be put at contribution to help families in the context of the new school year. To this end, a budget of 144 million gourdes will allow interventions during the next 3 months in three sub-programs: "Kantin Mobil": 252,000 hot meals (13.86 million gourdes) 75,000 "Panye solidarite" (24.75 million gourdes) 166,500 vouchers solidarity (106,277,000 gourdes) This aid is in addition to 166 million Gourdes distributed under the sub-progremme "Ti manman cheri" to more than 78,000 mothers (3 months cumulative payment). In addition, the Government plans to increase during the fiscal year 2014-2015, the number of beneficiaries of the subprogram "Kore Etidyan" which to date benefits to 30,000 students whose 9,000 of them have a laptop as part of a proposed option.
