Haiti - Social : Placement service for people with special needs

The Placement Service, a real portal to integrate people with disabilities into the labor market, is in the final stages of structuring to the Office of Secretary of State (Gérald Oriol Jr.) for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH).

The new service aims to promote the integration of persons with disabilities in all spheres of national life and to ensure their well-being in the context of Article 45 of the Law on the integration of disabled people.

The installation of this service is part of the continuation of the first job fair for people with disabilities, which was held in September 2013 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9321-haiti-social-first-job-fair-for-people-with-disabilities.html and which brought together over a hundred job seekers with disabilities and more than two dozen private and public institutions.

Following this original initiative, a database of people with special needs seeking work was conceived. With this information, the Placement Service will be bale to irect people with disabilities to potential jobs, according to market demand. "Our job is to help people with disabilities to integrate the market on a basis of competence [...] The service will play an intermediary role between applicants and job providers," explained the responsible for this service, Daworldson Sénélus, adding "An entire process will be implemented to achieve this goal. The service will develop ongoing relationships with businesses and institutions in the market, to learn about the jobs available."

Alongside this work of mediation, the Employment Service will invest in the training of people with disabilities. According Doworldson Sénélus "Consider directing disabled towards companies required to train them [...] Training sessions will also be developed to teach them inter alia how to prepare and submit their applications, how preparing for a job interview. In addition, the service will participate in awareness campaigns to bring the population to have another look at the abilities of disabled people whose potential is often despised by the population."
