Haiti - Economy : The next fiscal year could begin without its new budget
Senator Jocelerme Privert, President of the Senate Committee "Economy and Finance" asserts that the Finance Bill (budget of financial year 2014/2015) passed by the Chamber of Deputies on August 9 [52 votes in favor, 5 against and 2 abstentions] www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11800-haiti-economy-lower-house-voted-unanimously-the-budget-2014-2015.html currently under consideration by the Commission, will not be voted in the same terms.

As reasons, he evokes decommissioning and reallocations of more than 3 billion gourdes, which according to him are inconsistent and contrary to the macroeconomic objectives in the budget which requires to reconsider these changes.

Moreover, he doubts that the draft budget law could be voted on before the constitutional deadline of 1 October 2014, noting that the text was handed to the Senators only on August 18. Given of the examination period provided (20 consecutive days) he pointed out that the end of that period, coincide on September 8 with the end of the parliamentary session and the holiday departure of deputies.

Unless a convocation at the extraordinary by President Martelly, forcing the deputies to return to work and given the shuttle between the two chambers, compliance with the deadline of October 1, seems him very unlikely.
