Tuesday, Me Bélizaire issued an order, assigning the former President, under house arrest, a precautionary measure to ensure the continued presence of the accused and prevent him from escaping justice. This order has been transmitted to the competent authorities for legal action.

This ordinance states "We order those responsible for the prison administration to take all measures, generally any, to secure the residence where is the accused and to lead him, if necessary, before us, for answering questions of justice [...] We order consequently to those responsible of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police to secure the perimeter of the house above-indicated."

Furthermore, the Magistrate also decided that it was now the only to be able to authorize persons to visit Jean-Bertrand Aristide, at his residence in Tabarre.

Note that the investigation into the former president, concerns three issues: 1) Charges of illegal drug trafficking and money laundering 2) Misuse of funds from the public treasury. 3) Extortion and concussion. Moreover, Aristide is also subject of two other criminal investigations 1) Case of shareholders scammed, instructed by Judge Sonnel Jean-François. 2) Double murder of Jean Dominique and his guard Jean Claude Louissaint (3 April 2000)

Recall that former President Aristide, accused of "illicit drug trafficking, embezzlement of public funds, treason and bribery, and money laundering" was convened by the Judge Lamarre Belizaire August 13, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11805-haiti-justice-j-b-aristide-summoned-to-court.html and did not show up.

Following the absence teh Judge Bélizaire, in accordance with Article 77 of the Code of Criminal Procedure which requires the magistrate to issue an arrest warrant against anyone who refuses to comply with orders of justice, Me Bélizaire had issued an arrest warrant against Aristide.
