Haiti - Elections : Lionel Jospin completes its mission
Former French Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin, who led a mission on the electoral process in Haiti, for the Club of Madrid [independent organization of former presidents and former heads of government from more than 50 countries, dedicated to strengthening democratic values] said Thursday that elections scheduled for late November would be pluralistic.

During his stay of four days, the French politician met with Haitian President René Préval, the Prime Minister, Jean-Max Bellerive, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), and the head of the UN Mission for Stabilization of Haiti (MINUSTAH), Edmond Mulet, and the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the OAS, Seitenfus Ricardo, the head of the observer mission of the joint OAS/CARICOM, Colin Granderson, and political leaders in favor and opposed to the elections of 28 November 2010.

Members of the mission of the Club of Madrid have met 5 of the 19 candidates for president of Haiti, [Jacques-Edouard Alexis, Yvon Neptune, Mirlande Manigat, Hector Hyppolite Anacacis and Michel Martelly] "Some candidates have expressed their concerns about the electoral process, independence of the CEP and its technical capacity to organize this process, from campaign finance and equality of resource candidates" said Mr. Jospin assuring have forwarded these concerns to authorities and organizations responsible for preparing the elections. Beyond the electoral process, Mr. Jospin has discussed with his interlocutors in the governance and reconstruction of Haiti.

In addition, the project "Global Leadership for the reconstruction of Haiti" the mission of the Club of Madrid, has expressed interest in helping the Government of Haiti in a spirit of friendship, respect and neutrality, to the reconstruction and strengthening of good governance with financial support from the European Commission over the next 18 months. "The assistance which is brought to you is certainly a testimony of international solidarity. It is essential, but the objective finale is that Haiti controls itself fully and raises itself the challenge of the reconstructionand its development with the effort of all" concluded Lionel Jospin.
