Haiti - Duvalier : Reaction of the U.S. Department of State

Monday at the daily press briefing of the U.S. Department of State, the Spokesperson Jen Psaki answering a question from a reporter who asked "whether you have any thoughts – positive, negative, or neutral – about the death over the weekend of Baby Doc" answered :

"The United States notes the death on October 4th of former Haitian president https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12203-haiti-flash-former-president-jean-claude-duvalier-died-update-2.html and extend condolences to his family. Haiti continues to come to terms with the challenging impact of this period in its history and as the Haitian people work to build a more democratic and prosperous country. We encourage the people and Government of Haiti to continue their ongoing pursuit of justice and reconciliation. As you know, we also support accountability for crimes against humanity and gross human rights violations regardless of the perpetrator."
