Haiti - NOTICE : Increased tariffs for transports tap-tap and taxis

Following the increase in fuel prices decided by the Government https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12238-haiti-notice-painful-increases-in-fuel-prices.html the Ministry of Social Affair and Labour (MAST), in a statement signed by its Director General, Volmy Fils Desrameaux, informs : "it is brought to the intention of public in general, sectors and institutions concerned with public transit, in particular, that following the change in fuel prices at the pump and in order to facilitate harmonization among all sectors concerned, new tariffs for taxis and circuits of public transport (tap-tap) of the metropolitan area and regions of provinces have been set.

Among the increases include the transition from 28 to 30 gourdes of the taxi in the metropolitan area, the addition of one gourde on almost all routes in tap-tap in the metropolitan area, the route Port au-Prince - Kenscoff goes from 46 to 50 gourdes..."

The Ministry specifies that these new rates come into effect from this Friday, October 10, 2014.

Also Thursday Hériveaux Rudy, Minister of Communications at a press conference on the increase in prices of petroleum products, has issued a warning to speculators "the Government will act with the utmost rigor against those who intend to stockpile maliciously, fuel reserves on the market."
