Haiti - Social : Protest in Petit-Goâve, against the postponement of the inauguration of the wharf 16/10/2014 11:11:42
On Wednesday, the National Road #2 was blocked at about 2:00 pm, at the level of Digue, by supporters of local authorities, to protest against the decision of President Martelly to postpone to a later date the inauguration of the wharf of Petit-Goâve planned for this Thursday, October 16. According to the angry protesters, the President Martelly would have canceled this ceremony after having received information indicating that some members of the opposition, will manifest this Thursday 16 against his presence in Petit-Goâve. "We demand the immediate inauguration of the Port of Petit Goâve, otherwise we will block everything and constantly occupy the streets until the arrival of President Martelly," indicated the protesters, who accuse local opposition to be responsible for the postponement of the inauguration. The agents of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO) intervened to unlocked the main road and allow traffic to return to normal... This Thursday, supporters of local authorities as well as members of the opposition will demonstrate again in Petit-Goâve... for different reasons...
