Haiti - Reconstruction : 50 million for the Haiti's State University Hospital 20/09/2010 16:21:24
Mr. Jean Max Bellerive, Haiti Prime Minister and Ministers of Foreign Affairs American and French, Hillary Clinton and Mr Bernard Kouchner will sign today Monday in New York, a memorandum of agreement for the rehabilitation of the Haiti State University Hospital, strongly damaged by the earthquake of January 12th. This initiative responds to the request of the Haitian authorities, so that the needs in the field of health are immense. For France, it proceeds from the implementation of the commitments of President Sarkozy to help rebuild Haiti. France has, for this, mobilized 326 million euros. With a capacity of 500 beds, the University Hospital of Port au Prince is the largest in the country. Its operation is a necessity for the Haitian capital. The co-operation with parity between France and the United States to carry out this objective will be determining. It will focus on a major scale operation. Through this joint initiative, France and the United States co-finance a project with a cost of 50 million dollars. This effort will complement the contribution of $ 3.2 million made by the Haitian government. The shared ambition with our Haitian partners is that this achievement is a benchmark for training, the quality of its management and care that will be provided. The Franco-American cooperation for the rehabilitation of the State University Hospital in Port au Prince reflects the spirit of solidarity that exists around the reconstruction of Haiti.
