While groupings of political opposition parties, including the "Patriotic Movement of the Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD), the "Patriotic Force for the Respect of the Constitution" (FOPARC), the "Organization Tèt Ansanm" (OTAN) and popular organizations close to Fanmi Lavalas will demonstrate this Friday in the streets of the capital, day of commemoration of the 208 th anniversary of the assassination of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, to protest against the power in place, and that other manifestations are also planned in the provinces, Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, is warning protesters and those responsible for these demonstrations, that the excesses will not be tolerated and action will be taken against violators.

"The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), recognizing that freedom of expression is a right recognized by the Constitution, would like to remind everyone, especially the organizers of demonstrations in public places that such activities need to be essentially peaceful. The rule of law that we all want to preserve can not, under any circumstances, tolerate that individuals presenting themselves as protesters, impose their rule of violence in society, thus endangering both life and property of peaceful citizens.

So that no one is unaware, the Ministry of Justice would like to recall that, according to law, organizers of public events are required to ensure the peaceful nature of such events. In case these events take a look of breakage and violence, the organizers will be apprehended and brought to justice. As for those who allow themselves to making threats and inciting violence, That they take care !

The police authorities have been instructed to take all measures to ensure that public order and peace are preserved.

While believing firmly that a healthy democracy must pass, among others, by the free and peaceful expression of everyone, MJSP remind the general public that it intends to spare no effort to allow everyone to freely go about their business customary."
