Haiti - Economy : Project of Port of Saint-Louis

The engineer Alix Célestin, Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), has recently received in his office, two representatives of Port International du Sud S.A., the Vice-President, Ann B. Hauge, and the Head of Public Relations of the institution, Bernard Vanté.

This follow-up meeting took place around the construction of the Port of Saint-Louis (South), announced by President Martelly in November 2011 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7283-haiti-economy-construction-project-of-international-port-of-south.html The realization of this project will facilitate the industrialization and development of the region, including the establishment of a thermal power plant, an oil terminal and a cement terminal.

This new port infrastructure, which will be added to the port network of the country, will accelerate the opening up of the area and will make it self-sufficient in strategic commodities. In addition, the construction of this port will boost trade with the outside and especially will facilitate the export of local Haitian products.
