Haiti - Politic : Integration of youth from the Diaspora in the Public Service

In his opening address of the Third Annual Conference of the National Association of Professional Haitians held in Boston, François Guillaume II, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), announced that his Ministry will implement in 2015, a pilot program of integration of qualified young professionals from the diaspora in the Haitian Public Service.

As part of this program, which will start at the beginning of the year 2015, for a 9-month pilot phase, young professionals from across the diaspora, with profiles that match specific needs, will be selected to support public institutions in strengthening their capacity. These young people will receive a complete supervision of MHAVE for the duration of their stay in Haiti. An announcement warmly welcomed by members of the diaspora at this Conference, which focused on the integration of the diaspora in the sustainable development of Haiti.

The Minister Guillaume II stressed that the diaspora is the most important resource that Haiti has "[...] Many of our compatriots make exploits abroad, they can also help modernize the public administration and the private sector through their diverse skills [...] I am confident that this program will be a cement, a strong link between Haiti and its Diaspora."
