Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education announced last week, after consultation between the Ministry and the trade union and employers sector, that from the next official examinations "Now, for monitoring and the correction of copies of official examinations, teachers [Private or Public] will only be notified by the Ministry for this task that is part of their educational responsibility." In summary these teachers will no longer receive, as in the past, of additional compensation for this task. This decision, according to the Ministry, given the savings will allow the integration of more teachers in the education sector.

This week, in a Circular relating to the constitution of a corrective body and a pool of supervisors and invigilators for state exams for a better pedagogical and administrative control by the Minister brings all the precisons to that decision.

"Alerted by various complaints of the educational community, especially parents, on the integrity of the process of monitoring and correction of the official examination, and given the need to streamline the management of resources allocated to the education sector following the recommendations of the Commission for the Observation of the Conduct of State Examinations (CODEXE), the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MENFP). inform all educational agents, that it was decided to establish an official corrective body responsible for assessing student copies on the occasion of state exams.

In the same vein and to allow better control of the process, it will established a pool of supervisors and invigilators called to participate in the realization of state examinations and to ensure the integrity of those involved.

It should be recalled that the examinations are a normal educational activity forming part of teaching-learning process, and following the prescribed of the Decree on the special status of educational personnel, in Articles 18 and 19, no specific contract will be established between the Ministry and relevant in the context of this operation.

However, a lump sum will be provided by the Ministry to eventually cover the costs of travel, accommodation and food of mobilized agents.

The MENFP rely on the understanding and participation of all stakeholders in the effort to renovate the education sector, and invites school principals to fully assume their role in the recruitment of targeted personnel of their establishments. The departmental directors in general and inspectors in particular, will ensure of the coordination of this operation."
