Haiti - Environment : Handover of the Project «Recho Pa'w» to the Haitian people

In the presence of officials from the Haitian government, the US Ambassador, Pamela White, a representative of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), manufacturers of improved biomass stoves and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and LPG distributors was held recently the handover ceremony of the project "Recho Pa'w" to the Haitian people.

"Recho Pa'w" is a project of improved cooking technique funded by the US government, through USAID in Haiti, with a budget of 8.7 million US dollars https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-8355-haiti-environment-creation-of-municipal-spaces-for-cooking-on-propane.html

The objective, which covers the metropolitan area is to establish in the short and long term, sustainable foundation for clean cooking solutions, effective and affordable in Haiti.

In her speech for the occasion, Ambassador of the United States accredited to Haiti, Pamela White, declared The US government welcomes and supports the Haitian government in its priority to address some of the environmental problems plaguing his beautiful country. We work with the Government of Haiti to fight against deforestation and increase soil fertility."

During this ceremony, those responsible of the program "Recho Pa'w" congratulated their partners, all local, public and private sectors, working on the promotion of clean cooking solutions, effective and sustainable and issued certificates of appreciation before to handover the project to them, for the continuity of activities after the month of January 2015.

In his speech, Michelet Fontaine, Director of the Programme "Recho Pa'w" stressed "This is the beginning of another chapter of Recho Pa'w. We all have the project in hand, for work, among other things, to the conversion of 300,000 other families in the use of traditional stoves to that of of improved biomass stoves and propane."
