Haiti - Politic : Development of the agricultural sector, a national issue

Tuesday at the Hotel Karibe, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, participated in the opening of the 18th annual meeting organized by the Caribbean miller's association around the theme Making flour accessible.

During his speech, the Prime Minister recalled the investments made by the Government to boost the agricultural sector, while promoting public / private partnerships, necessary for the progress of the country.

"Between 2011 and 2013 the average public investment in agriculture reached more than 21 million US dollars," said the head of the government which put the emphasis on initiatives such as the opening of the first agricultural free trade zone in the northeast, to allow export of approximately 10 containers of organic bananas per week from July 2015 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12257-haiti-agriculture-$27m-for-the-production-of-bananas-for-export.html ; the strengthening of phytosanitary measures necessary to foreign trade; the construction of 700 km of rural road, to connect the fields and factories to local markets.

Prime Minister Lamothe, making the development of agriculture, a national issue, continues to advocate for more investment and private initiative, a way to permanently boost domestic agriculture and ensure a sustainable improvement of conditions of life of his countrymen.
