Haiti - Politic : The ATH and Economic Forum supports the Commission's solution

In a note the Tourism Association of Haiti (ATH) "welcomes the effort and the work done by the Consultative Commission established" and also support the Private Sector Economic Forum which brings together the major chambers of commerce, business associations and major companies in the country, which brought Thursday its official support to the recommendations presented by the Commission.

Richard Buteau, President of the ATH recalls that "during the last three years after many efforts, Haiti has regained as a destination its place on the international tourist scene and significantly improved its image.

In this context, the ATH is reminding politicians and all citizens that the development of Tourism has for worst enemy the chronic political instability and the ack of continuity in development strategies [...] The ATH wants that these achievements and the momentum are maintained and continued.

Social peace must be a priority for all so that economic growth and job creation are sustainable."

For its part, the Private Sector Economic Forum welcomed "the wisdom, sense of duty and patriotism of eleven eminent personalities up this commission". The Forum remains convinced of the importance of proper functioning of all national institutions and considers that the proper functioning of democracy is the prerequisite for social harmony and the establishment of an enabling environment for productive investment, generate growth, employment and sustainable prosperity. Moreover, it is convinced that only a revised Constitution, modernized and adapted to our national reality can lead us towards political stability.

Note that several business associations and chambers of commerce including the Association of Industries of Haiti, has not signed the note of Private Sector Economic Forum disagreeing with that position.
