Haiti - Politic : Violent protest in the capital, the Minustah intervenes...
Friday, several thousand people demonstrated to demand once again, the resignation of Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and President Michel Martelly, which had to address to the nation in the evening to make known its position on the recommendations of the Consultative Commission https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12719-haiti-flash-i-agree-with-the-recommendations-that-were-made-dixit-michel-martelly.html

Violent incidents broke out near the presidential palace when the protesters tried to force the security cordon of agents of the Body Intervention and Maintenance of Order (CIMO) and of the Minustah peacekeepers. Automatic weapons bursts were fired up by police, while UN peacekeepers used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. A vehicle of the Minustah and peacekeepers was targeted with stone throwing by young opposition activists.

Among the crowd of demonstrators was observed among other Turneb Delpé (Leader of MOPOD), Me André Michel (spokesman Group 77), Maryse Narcisse (coordinator of Fanmi Lavalas), Assad Volcy (Coordinator of the Organisation Tèt Ansanm), Louis Gérald Gilles (former Lavalas Senator) which shared the same demand the departure of the Chief of State.

After the dispersal of the demonstrators, the Minustah indicated that it has has been informed of an alleged excessive use of force, while responding to violent demonstrators targeting law enforcement personnel supporting the Haitian National Police (PNH) and causing injuries and destruction of property. The Mission takes this allegation very seriously and immediately opened an investigation to establish the facts.

While in the sky of Port-au-Prince rose black smoke from tire barricades, the United States has again called for the holding of elections as soon as possible in Haiti "Elections are essential to the democratic development of Haiti and to the advanced for its reconstruction and development [...] The broadly support dialogue and compromise leading to a solution in Haiti that will permit elections without further delay, and we think that’s incredibly important to advance progress made there," insisted Jennifer Psaki during her daily briefing.

After the message of President Martelly in the evening where he made known its position and declared to accept the recommendations of the Commission to resolve the crisis, this announcement does seem to have changed the radical opposition position. Reacting to the message of the Head of State, Turneb Delpé of MOPOD declared "The president plays the card of time [...] it does not interest me. The mobilization continues to overthrow the regime." Assad Volcy who joined the new "Pitit Desalin" platform led by Senator Moïse Jean Charles, abounds in the same direction "The only solution to the crisis is the departure of Martelly and Lamothe for a transitional government organizes free and fair elections."

However, Fanmi Lavalas, Conhane and Kontra Pèp among others, prefer to postpone their comments without analyzing in advance and in depth, the message of the President and having consulted their base.

For his part, Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras, President of the Senate, fears that this announcement does not go further. For him, the message of President Martelly has no other objective than to put people to sleep...

According to some information the letter of resignation of the Prime Minister would be ready, waiting for the President Martelly asked him to resign. Moreover Laurent Lamothe posted on his Twitter account "This Saturday, December 13, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe will speak to the Haitian people" to follow...
