Haiti - Social : Petit-Goâve started badly the new year

A new year has just begun, yet nothing seems to have changed in Petit-Goâve where social problems are getting worse in the beginning of the year...

After more than 3 days of blackout having started Thursday, December 25 for lack of fuel and the restoration of the situation Sunday, December 28 after violent protests https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12828-haiti-petit-goave-end-of-over-3-day-blackout-and-demonstrations.html the town of Petit-Goâve, is again plunged into darkness since January 2...

At the hospital Notre Dame of Petit-Goâve, all services are dysfunctional with the exception of the ambulance that seems to work... but patients or patient parents must have money... Meanwhile at the hospital, the physical condition of patients, for lack of appropriate care deteriorates. Last December 30, the leaders of this hospital refused to transfer a pregnant woman in Léogâne because this poor woman did not have the 2,000 gourdes claimed. The parents of this woman had to knock on doors to find 1,500 gourdes to pay for the purchase of fuel...

Among activists is discord since politicians have demobilized young people from neighborhoods by paying them...

Due to the year-end holidays and the New Year, the communication between the population and the authorities has stalled... The institutions seem to have forgotten the population and do what they want... The citizens are forced to demonstrate to demand explanations including the non distribution of electricity.

Note that currently the town of Petit-Goâve works without problems and clashes, but it is imperative to prevent the social situation escalates, that the basic services such as health, water, electricity, satisfy the basic needs of the population.
