Haiti - Security : The number of Haitians trying to flee the country, dramatically increasing... 08/01/2015 09:30:44
Tuesday, the CESFRONT, specialized military body responsible for the security of the Dominican border, in coordination with the inspectors of migration, arrested nearly 500 Haitians as they tried to enter illegally in the Dominican Republic, believing false rumors circulating in Haiti, which suggest that they may be able to acquire their residence upon arrival at the Centers for Regularization of foreigners, what's is totally false. Remember that this Regularisation Plan concerns all illegal aliens already living in Dominican territory for at least 18 months before the release date of the decree of application of the law. Major Santiago Gómez, Responsible for the CESFRONT indicated that many of these Haitians were stopped at the border of Dajabón and others on the road to Santiago, Mao and other towns in the mountains and other places indicating that these Haitian nationals comes in particular of Port-au-Prince, du Cap-Haïtien, Limonade, Trou-du-Nord, Millot, Fort-Liberté... according to the arrested Haitians. Regulation plan or fear of increasing violence in Haiti, the departure from the country of our brothers and sisters to the Dominican Republic has dramatically increased in recent weeks where more than 8,000 were arrested and repatriated to Haiti, including 1,000 in the last 3 days (170 Sunday, 300 monday, 500 Tuesday...) Major Santiago Gómez, unable to give the exact figure of the number of Haitians, who are prevented each day to enter illegally in Dominican territory, confirms that they are several hundred... Stressing that to deal with this massive wave of illegal immigrants, the military monitoring had been considerably strengthened, both at the border, on the roads, checkpoints and other places generally used by Haitian smugglers.
