Haiti - Security : More than 8,200 Haitians repatriated to Haiti in less than a month
According to figures provided by Colonel Narciso Onesimo Madé Guerrero, commander of the military base in Dajabón, members of the Tenth Infantry Battalion of the Dominican army based in Dajabón, have arrested Monday, 300 undocumented Haitians, bringing to 8,200 the total number of our countrymen arrested and repatriated to Haiti in less than a month while trying to enter illegally in Dominican territory.

According to Colonel Narciso Onesimo Madé Guerrero, several motorized patrols, vans, trucks, and buses, accompanied by immigration inspectors, participated in these operations, which allowed the interception of nearly 800 Haitian groups without paper during this period, who were trying to enter the Dominican Republic by road, the mountains and the sea.

He indicated that the arrests were carried out by the military, particularly in the communities of : Santa María, Copey and Matas, of Santa Cruz (province of Montecristi), to Dajabón, Loma de Cabera, Santiago de la Cruz, Corral Grande, Don Miguel, Los Miches, la Vigía and other border towns and communities.

Colonel Guerrero indicated that operations and arrests continued day and night, while thousands of Haitians who have spent the Christmas and New Year with their families in Haiti are back in the Dominican Republic, many of whom are in an irregular situation.

He indicated that this number of 8,200, concerned only the operations of the Dominican army and did not take into account the Haitians arrested in operations carried out by the CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza Terrestre) and immigration services which conduct similar operations.

Face the considerable increase in illegal immigration attempts in recent weeks from Haiti, the Dominican authorities have significantly strengthened their border monitoring device. The proliferation of these attempts by our brothers and sisters, unfortunately only strengthen the the Dominican radical politics branch, who did not hesitate in his messages to describe this situation of attempt to peaceful invasion organized of the Dominican territory, fanning hatred and racism towards Haitians...
