Haiti - Social : 72 street youth become entrepreneurs

Friday at the National Palace, the President Michel Martelly, in the presence, among others, of Charles Jean Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Charles Castel, Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) and Castro Arboite, Director General of Dignity Company, proceeded during a ceremony at the official handover of 72 buses to the beneficiaries of the social program "Chanje Metye Chanje Lavi".

The Head of State has indicated that through this initiative, young people, old car washers left to themselves in the streets of the metropolitan area, selected to join the training program for about a year, have now become entrepreneurs I have often said that someone can be born and grow up in poverty, but it is not condemned to die in misery." The President Martelly wished them success and congratulated the stakeholders who were involved to make this program possible. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10942-haiti-economy-more-than-115-young-people-will-soon-become-entrepreneurs.html

"I remember when the President of the Republic shared the idea of mentor around 200 young people to help them change their lives. Ten months later, this idea has become a reality. I feel proud of this achievement," expressed, for his part, Charles Jean Jacques.

Very satisfied, Alix Camille and Reginald Antoine, two recipients, consider this presidential initiative as "a gift from heaven." For his part, Réginald Dufresne rejoiced with these words : "Yo te konn ban nou kawoutchou pou n boule, kounye a Prezidan Martelly ban nou machinn pou n woule".

Through this unique program, which aims to provide new opportunities for young people living on the streets in difficult conditions, these 72 young people will now be able to enter the transit industry with pride. These new drivers are motivated and encouraged by the President to pay regularly for 24 months the financing of their vehicle from their income to help strengthen this program and help other young people to become entrepreneurs in their turn. Note that the Government promises an accompaniment to young people to help them repay the amounts contracted.
