Haiti - Diplomacy : The President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou received Duly Brutus 20/03/2015 09:56:49 "Since the coming to power of President Michel Martelly, bilateral cooperation programs are well developed in the fields of infrastructure and river development, agriculture, the food safety and public health with concrete and satisfactory results," praised Ma Ying-jeou. President Ma Ying-jeou recalled that Taiwan had particularly contributed to the construction of the first section of National Road #2, with a length of 12 km which will be completed in July 2015. Evoking the agricultural cooperation, the Head of State explained that Taipei and Port-au-Prince last year signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen Haiti's rice production capacity. The objective is to increase the annual production to 2,000 tons / metrics, which will benefit 50,000 farm families. Another project for the development of rice production in the Cayes Valley is expected to achieve this goal by strengthening rice shoots supplier networks, also stressed the Head of State. The President of the Republic also talked about cooperation in terms of reconstruction and the contribution made to rebuild the Palace of Justice (construction site launched in 2013 expected completion in 2015), a project considered a priority by the Haitian presidentwho has allocated the majority of budgets, rather than rebuilding the Presidential Palace. For Ma Ying-jeou, such an approach giving priority to the rule of law "is worthy of respect and support." During his stay, the Chancellor Brutus will also be received by his counterpart David Lin, by Andrew Yang, secretary general of the Council for National Security and Rachel Coupaud, Ambassador of Haiti in Republic of China.
