Haiti - Diplomacy : The International Community reiterates its support for elections
Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the members of the international community in Haiti represented in the "Core Group" (the Ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, the United States of America, the European Union and the Special Representative of the Organization of American States) "note with satisfaction the publication in the official journal Le Moniteur on 16 March 2015 of the Presidential order advising the people of Haiti of the date of the elections for them to exercise their democratic right to choose their representatives, in accordance with the electoral calendar elaborated by the Provisional Electoral Council in consultation with Haiti’s political actors."

Stressing that "the calling of the elections marks the effective launch of operations for the holding of the presidential, legislative, municipal and local elections in 2015 as foreseen in the electoral calendar. The members of the 'Core Group' welcome the establishment of the framework essential for the organization of the long-overdue elections and the renewal of democratic institutions. These representatives of the international community encourage all stakeholders to continue to work together to strengthen mutual confidence and reiterate their support to the Government and people of Haiti for the holding of fair, transparent and inclusive elections."
