Haiti - Health : Assessment of the OFATMA's self-insurance program
Monday, Dr. Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, Director General of the Office of Insurance Injuries, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) presented at a press conference, a partial assessment of the self-insurance program of Public servants launched December 23, 2014 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12799-haiti-health-launching-of-the-health-insurance-program-of-ofatma.html

He recalled that self-insurance is a formula that enables the State to ensure his own employees by offering them health insurance, coverage for medical expenses, accident insurance, life insurance and capital in case of loss of a limb. This program is managed by the National Coordination of Health Insurance (CONAM), a special structure created by OFATMA. "From the fourth day following a work accident, 2/3 of the employee's wages are paid until recovery. f during the accident, he loses a limb, a disability Commission assesses the disability, in ordr to compensate the victim," said the Director-Saint-Albin.

People eligible for this program are the agents of the public service, their spouse, partner, aged under 70, children (over 14 days and under 19 years and up to age 23 year old).

He stressed that the civil servant and members of his family, beneficiaries of the program can visit the doctor of their choice or to seek treatment in the OFATMA network that includes 32 hospitals, 85 doctors, 3 laboratories, 4 funeral homes and pharmacies soon.

"Through this insurance program, OFATMA wants to provide a historical correction old 47 years," stated Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, noting that this initiative is the realization of an electoral campaign promise of President Martelly.

Finally, the Director General of the OFATMA revealed that "from 1 October 2014 to 28 February 2015, we have provided health care to 33.459 outpatients and validated 1,775 ases of hospitalization.
