Haiti - Justice : Judge Max Elibert reelected to the CSPJ 09/04/2015 11:40:27
Tuesday at Le Plaza hotel, the country's appeal courts have proceeded to the election of their representative in the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) in the presence of representatives of the CSPJ, of the National Association of Haitians magistrates (ANAMAH), of the Ministry of Justice and the Office of Citizen Protection (OPC). The judge Max Elibert already in office, whose mandate expires on July 3, was re-elected with a strong majority of 23 votes, before Me Durin Duret Junior (6 votes), President of the ANAMAH, and Me Alténor Barthelemy (4 votes) Me Alibert welcomes his victory with humility and believes his re-election confirmed that the magistrates of courts of appeal had understood the meaning of his struggle and promised to continue to work towards a strong and independent judiciary. He stressed the difficulties of collaboration between the CSPJ and the Ministry of Justice before thanking the judges who re-elected him. Me Durin Duret Junior, who painted a negative picture of the CSPJ achievements, congratulated Me Alibert for his victory and announced at the same time his withdrawal of the Presidency of the ANAMAH. Reacting to the announcement of this resignation, Me Elibert said it was a personal decision of a President in enf of mandate which was only liquidate current affairs. TB/ HaitiLibre
