Haiti - Diaspora : Haitians of Chicago are preparing to greatly celebrate our flag

At the initiative of the Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago and of Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti in collaboration with other local organizations, the Haitian community in Chicago and surrounding areas are preparing to celebrate this year greatly the flag day.

A great patriotic concert will be held Saturday, May 16 at 7:00 pm at Restaurant Kizin Creole, located at 2311 W Howard St Chicago. The program of the flag ceremony, will include a socio-cultural and musical part with the performance of guest artists from Haiti such Marjorie Cajuste, a folk singer from the city of Saint-Marc and Joel Lorquet. Other groups of the Haitian diaspora including Harmony of Chicago, will also perform on stage. The lawyer Daphnée Pierre (Bond Court Specialist) will be the keynote speaker at the event and the Consul General Lesly Condé deliver will his traditional message.

According to Lesly Condé "activity specifically targets the Haitian community and anyone wishing to better understand the importance of national bicolor in the conquest of the independence of the Haitian people and to honor this symbol of pride, unity and freedom that is the Haitian flag."

He invites his compatriots living in Chicago and surrounding area to participate in this activity, which aims to help strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the Haitian diaspora n the 212th anniversary of the Haitian flag that was created in Arcahaie May 18 1803.

Sunday, May 17, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Consulate of Haiti, invite the entire Haitian Community to a Solemn Te Deum Mass to be celebrated at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace at 7801 South Jeffery, Chicago. This invitation is extended to people of all religious denominations.

Also, Saturday, May 23, artists Marjorie Cajuste and Joël Lorquet will perform during a fundraising buffet in favor of an NGO. This evening specially for the American public, will take place in Waukegan, Chicago suburb.
