Haiti - Sports : Rain of Medals for Haiti
Haiti participated in the XIII Central American and Caribbean University Games who stand for the third time in its history in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. These games involved more than 1,000 athletes competing in 11 disciplines began on October 1st and end on October 10th.

Haiti proudly let the thirteenth Games where our athletes competed in two sports: Basketball and Taek-Won-Do. A pretty impressive record with a return to home with 3 medals.

In taekwondo Tudor Sanon (already champion in 2008 in San Salvador) won gold in the under 87kg and Frantz Déliard bronze in the under 80kg.

In basketball, the Haitian team, after 3 consecutive wins: El Salvador (64-52), Panama (67-56) and Curacao (80-21), losing in the finals against players from the Dominican Republic (75-62), a score still honorable if we recall the stinging setback for the Haitian team in the opening match against the same team (101-41). For its first participation in this basketball tournament, Haiti finished second on the podium with silver, a more impressive result especially as the Haitian University Sports Federation (Fédération Haïtienne du Sport Universitaire FEHSU) which is just beginning to face since the earthquake.
