Haiti - Les Cayes : The Public University of the South (UPSAC) joins CORPUCA 13/10/2010 06:19:06 The UPSAC was founded in 1999 by the Haitian government in order to decentralize public higher education in Haiti. Thus, UPSAC's mission is to train professionals, managers, entrepreneurs and researchers in the Southern Department. It has about 1,500 students in three sectors: education science, administrative sciences and legal sciences. Since its founding, UPSAC has trained over 1200 professionals. It was created by the Haitian three public universities, each located in a town of Department: The Public University of South Cayes (UPSAC), the Public University of North Cap-Haitien (Université Publique du Nord au Cap-Haïtien UPNCH) and Public University of Gonaïves in Artibonite (Université Publique de l’Artibonite aux Gonaïves UPAG). At the meeting of the authorities of the AUF held in Montreal from 29 to 31 May 2010, the Council gave the accession of these three universities to the Agency for a probationary period of 5 years. Learn more about the CORPUCA: Regional Conference of Rectors, Presidents and Heads of Institutions in the Caribbean (CORPUCA) is officially born April 6, 2001, at its constituent meeting on the campus of the University of the West Indies and Guyana, Pointe-à -Pitre (Guadeloupe) in the presence of Ms. Michèle Gendreau-Massaloux, Rector of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie. Its headquarters is located in the Caribbean Office of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This conference is a forum for exchanges, cooperation and initiative among the university officials of its network. At regional level, it aims to strengthen, among its members, the cooperation of academic and research mobility between universities which are their corollary. The CORPUCA defines cooperation priorities, and is dedicated to identify and implement regional training excellence within its institutions. It builds and runs a space of cooperation between member universities Haiti, Dominican Republic, Cuba and the French Departments of America.
