Haiti - Social : D-3, Urgency to extend the PNRE 15/06/2015 13:40:47
In a statement, the CNDH-RD indicates that only 240,000 foreigners (95% of Haitians) were able to enroll in PNRE on the 600,000 Haitian estimated by the Commission. "We fear that on the 95% of registered Haitian, only 2% has a complete file, the others were unable to complete because of difficulties of all kinds," said the Dominican Commission "There are obstacles that have been reported in recent months, as the cost of documents, legalizations, the lack of employment contracts or lease." "What will be the fate of those who remain outside the plan ?" wonders the CNDH-RD, noting that "those who are left behind, are the most vulnerable, the elderly, single mothers and people with great economic difficulties, so that the regulation plan, despite the good intentions, has proven to be an mechanism of exclusive character." "We can not imagine the difficulties and the family and personal tragedies that could result if the Dominican Government does not provide a humane and just extension [...] Families will be divided, people will be deported to Haiti where they have no home, no house, some of them do not speak Creole to have lived all their lives in the Dominican Republic." The National Commission for Human Rights in the Dominican Republic concluded, "The more just and more human measure that the Dominican government could take would be to grant an extension for all immigrants present in our country, have equal opportunities to benefit from PNRE."
