Haiti - Canada : 3 jobs for Michaelle Jean !
Laval University can be proud of his latest recruit: Michaelle Jean, the former Governor General of Canada, has accepted the chairmanship of the board of directors of the Quebec Institute of International Studies (Institut québécois des hautes études internationales HEI). This appointment will allow members of the HEI to benefit from the experience and expertise of Michaëlle Jean, since it will participate in discussions on the broad directions and strategic choices of the Institute "It's great to partner a pool of about sixty researchers", she said, meanwhile, the Laval University welcomed to have the experience and expertise of Ms. Jean, who will attend at the broad guidelines of Institute.

The HEI will include researchers, professors and graduate students about many issues in international studies. The training is multidisciplinary and relies primarily but not exclusively, on political science, law, economics and management. The University also wants to create new courses on governance, justice and human right in Haiti.

During his mandat as Governor General and previously as a journalist Michaelle Jean has demonstrated his interest in humanitarian issues and, more generally, social transformation. Pierre Lemieux, the director of the Institute of International Studies, applauds Ms. Jean in the officers of HEI: "His interest in international development leads directly to the concerns of the Institute, the researchers provided the students benefit his great experience in international relations." Michaelle Jean was deeply honored to assist with the HEI from Laval University.

With the appointment of Michaelle Jean will have a busy week, UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, President of the Board of HEI and support of the Foundation Michaëlle Jean [which aims to support the many social and cultural actors , and especially youth organizations in Canada].

Ms. Jean, who visited Haiti in March, should make a protocol visit as part of his duties at UNESCO to meet the new government after the elections.
