Haiti - Repatriations : First Meeting of the Joint Committee of National Solidarity
Saturday at the Oasis Hotel, Prime Minister Evans Paul, accompanied by members of the Joint Committee of National Solidarity (CMSN), had a working meeting with the various representatives of international organizations, in order to present the position of the Government of Haiti following the decision of the Dominican Republic [Decree 168-13 (October 2013) Law 169-14 and its implementing regulations, Decree 250-14 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9724-haiti-denationalization-the-dominican-government-accepts-the-decision-of-the-constitutional-court.html ] deprive of their nationality tens of thousands of Dominicans of Haitian descent and deport them to Haiti according to the order https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12316-haiti-politic-toward-an-extension-of-application-deadline-of-the-law-on-naturalization.html

During the meeting, the Head of Government asked the representatives of international organizations to support the request of the Haitian Government, to bring the Dominican Republic to meet the requests of Haiti so that the repatriation mechanism complying with international conventions.

The Haitian government has asked the Dominican Government to route those repatriated two entry points on the border (Ouanaminthe and Malpasse) and requested the names, profiles and the route of the victims of this migratory operation.

Sunday the Haitian Government commenced delivery humanitarian aid supplies for the repatriated most affected and intends to also assist people with specific vulnerabilities. The Government will also set up a documentation program and of identification of deported, of search for appropriate solutions to the problems of migrants and people in statelessness.
