Haiti - Politic : Fruitful education summit in Oslo
The Prime Minister, Evans Paul participated on 6 and 7 July 2015 at the World Summit on Education for Development in Oslo (Norway), which brought together heads of government and ministers of forty countries, directors of international organizations and global defenders of the right to education.

This high-level Summit, helped revive international efforts likely to reach the new UN targets for development.

The participants unanimously agreed on the need to promote innovative partnerships designed to develop educational systems financing mechanisms in the world and particularly in developing countries. Other important aspects regarding the issue of education were discussed including girls' education, education in crisis situations, quality and learning outcomes.

Developing countries participating in the summit are invited to devote at least 6% of their gross domestic product to education. Access to education is their main commitment. They agreed to further involve to the private sector, to promote new technologies to encourage distance education.

The Oslo conclusions will be on the agenda at the International Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) from 13 to 16 July and in September 2015 to the National Assembly of the UN, where the new objectives of sustainable development must be adopted.

On the sidelines of the Summit of Oslo, Prime Minister Paul has had discussions with the Heads of Government and senior officials on education, energy, elections and on the repatriation of Haitians living in irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic.

He also met with senior officials from Norway, Borge Brende, particularly, the Foreign Minister and the First Minister Erna Solberg, the focus was on strengthening vocational training in Haiti. Ms. Erna Solberg has promised a budget of $ 50 million to fund education in the great south of Haiti (Southeast, Nippes, Grande Anse, South), confirmed Prime Minister Paul which emphasized that this proposal by Norway was not yet an agreement but a promise, the framework must be defined and the detailsfinalized later.

The Head of the Government of Haiti, also met with Antonio Guterres, the Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Guy Ryder, Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) who expressed their concerns about the issue of repatriation of foreigners illegally living in the Dominican Republic, mostly Haitians.
