Haiti - Politic : Anniversary of Dessalines, Preval speaks elections
President Preval, accompanied by several government ministers, visited Marchand Dessalines, a rural community in Artibonite (North), to commemorate the 204th anniversary of the assassination of Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines [October 17, 1806].

After a ceremonial deposit of a wreath in memory of Dessalines, Preval has pointed out that this was his last official visit as president [that said, during those two terms Rene Preval has never been very hard for this ceremony] that did not stop wishing that the next leaders always honor the heroes of national independence ...

Referring to the violent history of the country, Rene Preval said "that violence had no place, before, during or after the elections" [while a riot was taking place simultaneously at the Penitentiary in Port-au-Prince, which has 3 deaths among prisoners and many wounded].

Dessalines quickly forgotten, Rene Preval, discussed upcoming elections and suggested to the population doing the "right choice", ie one that will preserve "the progress made during his mandate" He asked the country's next leaders to pursue its policy "in favor of human rights and freedom of the press" and not change course, even in criticism. He said he was satisfied that it is a democratically elected president who succeeded him on February 7, 2011 [in principle].

In addition, Mr. Preval has asked the new government to not touch the National Center Equipment (CNE) which he presented his congratulations for the work [to not say his heir Jude Celestin of the Platform (INITE), whose only program, at present is the result of construction of the CNE in the country].

Note also that both candidates have commemorated, this October 17, the assassination of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, this is Charles Henri Baker and Michel Martelly.
