Monday in the hotel Montana, in the context of support to entrepreneurs for the realization of their investment projects in agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) has officially launched the Unit of Promotion of Private Investment in the Agricultural Sector (UPISA) during a validation workshop and presentation of the strategic plan.

According to the Minister of Agriculture, Fresner Dorcin, "the UPISA is a One Stop Shop where agricultural entrepreneur will find in one place all relevant information to start and grow its business."

This transversal unit work with the Investment Facilitation Center (CFI), the other units of the ministry and also the departmental directorates, to ensure the promotion, support and monitoring of investments in the agricultural sector.

As part of its mandate (2015-2017), the mission of the UPISA will include promoting access to finance, provide technical support for agricultural enterprises, increasing the number of partners and investments, in order to contribute to the revitalization of agriculture. It will serve as a stimulus to economic growth of the country, rising incomes and the creation of sustainable jobs, and more generally to Haiti's development efforts.

The Minister Dorcin recalled that since the development of the recovery plan of the agricultural sector "Over the past three years, 32 projects were approved for a total investment of over $600 million."
