Haiti - FLASH : The Government calls the population to evacuate

The Haitian government requires the municipal and local authorities to proceed to the opening of temporary shelters and initiate the evacuation of the population of areas at risk. Particularly in Anse-à-Pitres where two schools, including the National School Bonny, are open and already expect those deported from the Dominican Republic ho live in the three gathering sites of this commune.

The alert at the level of vigilance orange is maintained for the whole country against the threats of heavy rain, strong winds and heavy seas that can cause rockfalls, landslides and floods across the country.

The Government recalls that the National Meteorological Centre (CNM) in conjunction with the Permanent Secretariat of Risk Management and Disaster (SPGRD), the Civil Protection Department (DPC), the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC), the National Airports Authority (NAA) and the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) announced to the population that flights and boats to and from the ports and airports of the country are temporarily prohibited.

The population of risk areas must always remain vigilant and strictly implement the safety instructions.
