Haiti - Politic : Review of the National Sports Policy

Friday at the Hotel Le Plaza, Jimmy Albert, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, launched a central review workshop of the National Sports Policy (PNS) document.

During the day, representatives of national sports federations, government, industry specialists and experts reflected on the document existing since 2011 [sanctioned ago 15 days by the actors of the different departments of the country] and shared comments and suggestions for the development of a national sports policy.

Albert The Minister stressed the need to work with real actors of the sector to the development of a PNS, taking into account the aspirations and proposals of the great sport family.

He said he was in favor of the unity and vitality of the sector, which must strengthen for youth development and better consideration of state authorities towards the sport at the time where are held consultations and conferences on the budget for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Jimmy Albert asked for the cooperation of the leaders of all the national sports federations and associations in its commitment for a budget allocation up to the importance and challenges of the sector and has concluded by arguing : "When we want, we can".

After the opening speeches, Mesguerre St-Pierre, General Coordinator of the National Sports Assizes Steering Committee, launched the workshop sessions by presenting the methodological framework and clarifying key concepts of the review process.

Seven working groups were formed in order to work on several themes ranging from the situation and the organization of sport, the main lines and strategic directions to achieve to the promotion of development financing and sports practice through the development of school and university sport, of sports for all and sport of high level.

By early afternoon, the rapporteurs secretaries of 7 groups made a presentation of the work of each group followed by plenary discussion. A summary of the work closed the day's work organized to revise centrally, the PNS developed by senior officials of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action in 2011.
