Haiti - Politic : INITE leaves the Government Martelly-Paul

In a letter addressed to the President Martelly dated Tuesday, September 8, 2015, INITE announced the withdrawal of Ariel Henry, his representative to the Government Martelly-Paul. Recall that Ariel Henry, who held the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities had been transferred by decree of September 7 as Minister of Social Affairs and Labour (replacing Victor Benoit, Minister resigned of Party Fusion of Social Democrats) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15083-haiti-flash-new-ministers-to-the-government.html

Excerpt of the INITE letter to the President Martelly :

"[...] At a time when a serious crisis threatening to plunge the country into chaos, you and some political parties of the opposition have had the merit to negotiate and reach an agreement that could pave the way in order to guarantee the democratic future of the country. The realization of fair elections, democratic, inclusive, through a transparent process in a secure environment, should be a primary goal to reach.

The electoral Day on August 9 saw the resurgence of old demons. It broke our hopes and the dreams of democracy building and the rule of law in our country.

[...]

What happened before, during, and after the Day of August 9, seems to take us back to the dark days of the 60s - 70s. This backward frightens us, revolt us and we prevent us, Mr. President, to shout our refusal to accept the unacceptable.

Mr. President, we do no longer trust the CEP for the constitution to which we have fought so much, We are, moreover, convinced that the power that you lead has no willingness to admit and respect the expression of the sovereignty popular through free, fair and democratic elections.

Mr. President, remain part of a government that has undertaken and continues this electoral coup of August 9, would be contrary to our principles, our democratic ideals.

From that date, we take the decision to get out of the Agreement of 11 January and inform you that our representative, the comrade Ariel Henry, was instructed to give without delay his resignation from the Government [...]"
