Haiti - Diplomacy : The United States unfavorable to a transitional government in Haiti
In a note, the US Ambassador accredited to Haiti Pamela White, says she is unfavorable to a transitional government in Haiti, insistently requested by several parties and actors of the opposition.

"The United States Government believes that with elections on October 25th and December 27th will pave the way to political predictability. We cannot go back, because that would be 'lave men siye ate'.

I know there are MANY groups that want to stop the elections, who want to throw out the CEP and who are pushing for a 'transitional government'. But this country needs a real government. Private businesses are not attracted to transitional governments which do not offer long term stability. This country needs a democratically elected President and Parliament and mayors. The U.S. government has already financed $25 million dollars of the electoral process and recently pledged an additional $5 million dollars for the second round.

We encourage all political parties to respect the rule of law, and stop causing disorder in the street."
