The Israel Forum for International Humanitarian Aid (IsraAID) yesterday announced the dispatch in urgence of a task force to combat the cholera epidemic in Haiti. The team left Israel on Thursday morning and will open a field hospital as soon as possible.

IsraAID is present in Haiti since January 16th. The organization provided inter alia emergency treatments, primary education care and formation with the agricultural production. A team of Israeli police force is also on the spot to form a new generation of police.

The team's goal is to help people affected by cholera which has killed more than 304 and 4.774 hospitalized (figures October 25/26 2010)

The Israeli team should receive help from the Jewish Community of New Orleans (Lousianne) which has already mobilized to buy dozens of tents and several tons of drugs. Hopefully on the ground, the Israelis are putting aside their disputes with Doctors Without Borders, whom they accuse of having refused their collaboration in the Arab territories, and work in Haiti hand in the hand.
