Haiti - Politic : Martelly met the Haitian community of Spring Valley
Wednesday, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, held in New York from September 15 to October 5, 2015, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by his wife Sophia, met in Spring Valley, members of the community Haitian.

The Head of State was welcomed at City Hall by the Mayor Spring Valley Demeza Delhomme which did not fail to note that it was the first visit of a President of Haiti in function throughout the history of the city. The President Martelly, meanwhile, visibly moved, was very honored by the warm welcome that has been reserved by the Haitian community for him.

Then, in the auditorium of the St. Joseph Church, the Head of State, to whom the key to the city was delivered from the hands of Mayor Delhomme, addressed the Spring Valley compatriots to explain the sense of commitment at the head of the state to a few months before the end of his presidential term.

While recalling the many advances recorded during his five-year, particularly in terms of the new image projected by Haiti on the world stage, President Martelly said he hopes that the new authorities, which will be from the elections underway, will improve the achievements made and stay the course towards development of the country.

Recalling the significant contribution of abroad compatriots in the Haitian economy, Michel Martelly, who sees himself as coming from the Diaspora, took advantage of this meeting to urge them to continue their commitment to the benefit of Haiti and to fight for their participation in decision-making spheres. "[...] I know that you have left your country, not for lack of love, but looking for opportunities that Haiti could not offer you," admitted the Head of State, reminding them that Haiti was changing.
