Haiti - Presidential 2015 : Haiti Presidential Town Hall Meeting Survey Results
On the evening of September 15, 2015 Haiti Renewal Alliance (HRA) in partnership with George Washington University, National Association of Haitian professional and National Organization for the Advancement of Haitian, hosted the first ever Haiti Presidential Candidates Town Hall meeting on economic development and investment.

With more than 300 eager registered guests and an estimated 1 million viewers to date, the town hall meeting was a great success! The Presidential Candidates panel included: Charles H. Baker of Respe, Moise Jean-Charles of Pitit Desalin, Simon Deras of Palmis, Mathias Pierre of Konsyans Patriotik, and Jean Clarens Renois of Unir. They have accepted the charge to engage the Haitian Diaspora and presented their vision and plan on various issues that continue to plague the Haitian Economy.

Facilitated by Moderators Bob Maguire, Roberson Alphonse of Le Nouveliste, and Nathalie Liautaud of HRA, the town hall proved to be a dynamic and thought provoking experience for the candidates. Over 300 questions were received from the live audience and social media via (Facebook & Twitter). Since the debate focused on economic development and attracting investment, it was originally intended to be conducted in English with a translator as there were many investors and multilateral institutions present. However, the event was so dynamic in nature, the candidates felt obligated to focus their communications to the live stream viewers in Haiti, and the town hall morphed into an engaging Creole dialogue.

A post event survey was conducted online by HRA with the aim of understanding the value of the town hall meeting and the current perspective of the audience on the panel of candidates. Five survey questions were sent via constant contact to participants to complete the online survey, which was active from 17 to 21 September 2015. The results showed an overwhelming support for the initiative with 96.4% of the respondents expressing a positive impression of the town hall meeting. Of the respondents, 55.0% attended live, 33.0% tuned in via live-stream and 12.0% viewed the event on demand thereafter.
