Friday, on the occasion of 236th anniversary of the Battle of Savannah on Place Franklin Square, Savannah (Georgia), the Haitian American Historical Society (HAHS), in the presence of several officials from the Haitian government including : Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture, Robert Labrousse, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad, Gandy Thomas, Consul General of Haiti in Atlanta, Édouard Valmé, Director General of MHAVE, Patrick Durandis, Director General of National Heritage Preservation Institute (ISPAN) and the Mayor of Cap-Haitien, Yves Althéon celebrated the 8th edition of Haitian Memorial Monument.

Remember that this monument was erected in 2007 by the HAHS to salute the courage and contribution of Haitian volunteers hunters of Santo Domingo, who fought the British in 1779 alongside American of independence movement with the support of the young Henry Christophe, who had only 16 years.

To mark this symbolic date, under the sign of solidarity, dozens of our compatriots from including Miami, Atlanta and New York marched through the streets of Savannah, to revive the memory of these fighters of the Battle of Savannah.

The Minister Labrousse, took the opportunity to award two honorary plaques and merits to Daniel Fils-Aimé, CEO of the HAHS and the second to the association he heads, for their contributions and commitments to revive the memory of our brave fighters.
