The protest movement started last Thursday in Dajabón, by the National Federation of Dominican Transportation (Fenatrado) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15405-haiti-economy-trade-totally-paralyzed-at-the-border-of-dajabon.html following the ban of the entry into Haiti of 23 Dominican products by land https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15156-haiti-notice-import-ban-by-road-of-certain-products-from-dr.html , that has amplified Friday with the total blockade of the commercial ground transportation to the four points of the official border crossing and the suspension of bilateral markets in Jimaní, Pedernales, Elías Piña and Dajabón https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-15425-icihaiti-flash-fenatrado-imposes-a-border-blockade.html strengthened Sunday after that Dominican trade union leaders have decided to extend the ban to people.
Union leaders said that since Haiti does not allow entry into its territory of Dominican products, in addition to the trucks (which can not enter or leave the Dominican Republic) they will not allow the entry of persons even in possession passport or a Dominican visa.
They warned that Monday, market day will get worse, because they are willing to continue their protest indefinitely.
Meanwhile, the merchants of Ouanaminthe and other Haitian residents living near the Dominican border, warned that starting tomorrow (Monday, October 12) they will demonstrate against the Government's decision and product shortages faced by their companies.
Note that the security of both sides of the border has been strengthened...

At that meeting, were present Freddy Morillo, Fernando Diaz, Abigail Bueno main leaders of trade associations of binational market, Geovanny Escoto, Secretary General of the National Federation of Dominican Transport.
